Titles, Subtotals and Discount
  • Dear Totals Team!

First - big compliments on the software!

I have two questions that I would appreciate if you could answer:

    1. Is there a way to save "templates" for Titles and Subtotals in the Document creation window? It is a pain having to write it every time...

    2. Is there a way to display total discount amount in the document? Not the discount added to the entire document (I know this is possible), but cumulative discounts added to specific items on the document?

    Thanks in advance!
  • Hi,
thank you for your questions. Titles and Subtitles are currently not supported via drag'n drop like line items do. But you can create a draft invoice with Title and Subtitle and duplicate it when you create a new invoice.
The total discount amount which you are looking for was not included by purpose. The discount applied to the line items are calculated 'before' the subtotal. This means if you want to display the total discount of line items you need also a second subtotal (for before and after).
    Kind regards,
    Ferhat
  • Hi Ferhat,

    Thaks for you quick response.

I have to admit I don't fully understand what you meant with you answer regarding having two subtotals to express total line discount. If I add a subtotal before or after another subtotal the amount shown on it is zero?!

Could you clarify how to do it?
  • For example:

    1. item1 price: $110 discount: -$10 total: $100
    2. item2 price: $220 discount: -$20 total: $100
    ------------------------------------------
    Subtotal: $300
    Discount: %30 (-$90)
    Total: $210

What you can not see is:
    1. $330 subtotal (->what I mean with second subtotal)
    2. $30 item discount + $90 document discount = $120 total discount

These points will not show up in Totals.

But I don't mean the subtotal Item(!) which is a completely different topic. It just calculates sum for grouped line items and don't affect the grand total.

    Kind regards,
    Ferhat
