This is a cool, VERY convenient feature. As an AppShelf customer who got it through an MUPromo bundle, I really like this app. (AND the retail price of $6.90!)

I’d humbly request a few related features for the next version of AppShelf.

    1. Auto-Linkify any URLs in the Comment field.

All the MUPromo apps have comments like these in the AppShelf config download:

    “download from http://www.macupdate.com/download.php/26620/appshelf

I just went through and redownloaded my apps to get current. Just a click would’ve been quicker than copy-drag-pasting the URLs into Safari.

You may then need an ‘edit/view’ toggle on the field to clarify clicking vs. editing.

    2. Add a Download URL field.
With optional authentication, if possible. (eg, VMWare downloads require login)

    3. Add an ‘auto-update’ feature.
Maybe this could work in conjunction with AppFresh, or could simply look at the Filename (which returns a specific version) returned from the above URL at least for MacUpdate.

    4. Add a scheduled ‘update alert’
Check daily/weekly for updates on my registered apps, and let me know when they’re new.

I think these features could easily be the basis for a paid upgrade to v2.0 option…

PS: Pricewise, $7 is great. I’d even go to retail price of $9-15 for this type of app. But I think $50 that VersionTracker Pro charges is ludicrous!
